Founder of ArtSpark, Aliki Tsirliagkou at Art Athina: Bridging Art and Luxury Hospitality

Art Athina Talks: Hospitality & Contemporary Art.

Art Athina International Art Fair, the leading Fair of contemporary art in Greece brings together the arts community along with art lovers. Its Talks section, masterfully curated this year by  Danai Giannoglou,  touches upon current tendencies of the industry.  One of these rising trends refers to the relationship between Hospitality & Contemporary Art.

Our own Aliki Tsirliagkou was invited to participate in the panel along with  Yiota Dimitriou, Director of G. & A. Mamidakis Foundation and Anastasia Sgoumpopoulou co-owner of Perianth Hotel/Collector. The discussion was extremely interesting as each participant referred to their own experience shedding light to a different angle of this relationship. Aliki picking up on her experience in the field and having worked with leaders of the hospitality sector like Marriott, Hilton and One&Only spoke about how art stands out as a critical factor for differentiation and crafting unique experience in an increasingly competitive landscape, amongst others.

Art as a key differentiator

Within the competitive realm of luxury hospitality, art showcases the hotel’s profile as a trailblazer in the industry. It enriches guests with a rich and multi-faceted experience, allowing them to immerse themselves in the culture and history of the destination.

Authentic and premium experiences through Art

Today’s modern travelers seek more than just accommodation; they crave experiences that will impress and evoke emotions. Through art, hoteliers have the opportunity to deliver a complete sense of authenticity and quality, offering pioneering experiences to their guests.

Connecting with Local Culture

Moreover, she emphasized that hotels integrating art into the guest experience demonstrate genuine respect for the locale and community. They provide guests with opportunities to explore and appreciate the local culture, thereby enhancing their overall stay.

Art as a communication tool

Art doesn’t merely enhance spatial aesthetics but serves as a potent communication tool and asset for the hotel brand. Through its unique storytelling, hotels can leverage art to amplify their brand value, delivering genuine and unforgettable experiences.

Incorporating art into hospitality luxury projects has seen a significant surge in the recent years, reflecting a broader movement towards creating more immersive and culturally rich experiences for guests. High-end hotels and resorts are increasingly curating bespoke art collections, commissioning site-specific installations, and collaborating with renowned artists to transform their spaces into visually captivating environments. This integration of art not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the property but also elevates its status, providing a unique identity and a sense of place. Art in these settings often serves as a storytelling medium, connecting guests to the local culture and history while offering an elevated level of sophistication and exclusivity. This trend underscores the evolving expectations of luxury travelers who seek not just accommodation, but an enriching and memorable cultural experience.
