Description: The apartment, of approximately 145 square meters, is located on the 3rd floor of an interwar building in the historic center of Thessaloniki. The facades and common areas of the building were restored a few years before the apartment’s renovation, while during the renovation process, the interior of the apartment was completely dismantled by the previous owners. The architect-designer set as the main goal of the project, the restoration of the original character and decorative elements of the apartment (plaster elements on walls and ceiling and paneled doors) in regards to the shell. As far as the functionality and the level of furniture design, fixed or mobile, is concerned a modern approach was decided that will follow current needs and aesthetics. The bigger part of the walls was painted white, as were all the frames and interior doors. The use of color was limited to specific parts of the interior and on a smaller scale. The wall, at the end of the white and spacious corridor, is a focal point in space as it connects the common areas with the private spaces. Therefore, the art piece placed would be of particular importance in regards to the aestheticσ and dynamic of the interior. We chose a painting of larger dimensions that stands out for its modern visual outlook, while simultaneously brings color and intensity to the space.
