Description: The architects, while working at Alimos residence, wanted to create a ‘’play’’ between earthy materials and the implementation of natural elements into an otherwise modern design. Main principle of the proposal is the use of wood, an earthy, familiar and intricate material that surrounds the space providing intimacy, warmth and calmness. Art comes into play by supplying a second natural element, that of water, intense, ever-changing, flowing and distant which nevertheless exudes peace and tranquility. At the intersection of architecture and art, the former steps back creating a space of expression for the latter. Art is ingrained in architecture and both work together fulfilling the initial intentions of the designers.
